The Holy Quran is the last Holy Book of Allah Almighty. It was revealed on Holy Prophet Muhammad PBUH. An Angel, Jibrael A.S brought this book in small portions. It took almost 23 years to complete it.
In this article we will come to know about the particulars of the Quran. We will also be able to know, why understanding the Quran is important in Islam.
Very first question that comes to our minds is, was the Quran revealed just for the purpose of recitation? The answer is, No. Understanding the Quran is more important than just recitation.
The Holy book of Quran is written in an Arabic language. Muslims in all over the world are not familiar with this language. But even then they love to recite and memorize the book of Holy Quran. Reciting the Holy Quran and understanding along with implementing the Quran in daily life are two different things.
By understanding the Holy Quran, we enable ourselves to know about the eternal realities and facts of the universe and Allah Almighty Himself. The facts revealed in the Quran are beyond our imagination. Apart from the religious part, the Quran is a complete collection of facts and rulings along with basic principles of moral and social behavior.
Since the revelation of the Holy Quran, Muslims are exploring this book. And until now they are revealing more and more surprising facts about it. Muslims get all the solutions for any kind of problem from this Holy Book.
It is also narrated that from one ayah of Quran, Muslims used to get more than one solution or an Islamic Law. In terms of its words and meaning, no doubt the Quran is a great miracle of Allah Almighty. We just need to open and read the holy verses of Quran with understanding and we will feel ourselves lighten up from the burden of our difficulty.
Allah SWT made it easier to understand the Quran by giving examples and moral stories in it. We can get the best examples from these stories to spend our lives according to the Quran and Sunnah. When we start implementing the Quran in our daily life, it becomes our constant companion. It makes us wonder why we were born. What does Allah want from us? What is our identification? What are our social, religious and personal responsibilities? And moreover, by which things we can get the blessings of Allah SWT and make Him pleased.
Allah says in Quran,
“And to recite the Quran, so whoever receives guidance, receives it for the good of his own self, and whosoever goes astray, say (to him): “I am only one of the warner’’. 27:92
In this ayah of the Holy Quran, Allah SWT has made it clear that the Quran is His great blessing to show the right path to mankind. But if we make excuses to not follow the rules and facts of the Quran, we will be in great darkness and that will only be our personal loss.
Final words of Allah SWT in Quran are considered as a literal speech of Allah Almighty provided to the Last Prophet Muhammad SAWW. Every chapter and every ayah of Quran is filled with the complete guidance for mankind.
Understanding the Quran is The Right of Quran
It is a little bit hard for Non-Arabs to understand the Quran as they are not familiar with the Arabic language. That is why the Quran has been translated into many languages to help not only Muslims in all over the world, but also to teach humanity to the whole mankind.
If we explore the Quran deeply, we see that the Quran is a complete code of life. So in every matter we need guidance from it. We need not only to recite the Holy Quran but also to understand the Quran and it is the right of the Quran.
One who seeks the closeness to Allah, Quran becomes a bridge between him and Allah SWT. It brings peace, guidance and mercy to its readers.
To understand the Holy Quran we consider the most reliable and effective source is to learn Arabic first.

Misinterpretations about Quran
While one is struggling to understand the Quran, Shaitan or Iblis are trying their utmost effort to misinterpret the message of Allah.
For example, Allah says in Quran, Surah Nisa,
“Do not come near Salah (prayer)’’
Surah Nisa: 43
Now, Iblis can make its interpretation that Salah is prohibited in Islam. But the fact is this ayah was revealed in this way,
Translation
“O you who have believed, do not approach prayer while you are intoxicated until you know what you are saying or in a state of janabah, except those passing through [a place of prayer], until you have washed [your whole body]. And if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have contacted women and find no water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and your hands [with it]. Indeed, Allah is ever pardoning and forgiving’’
Surah Nisa: 43
In this way critics come for the baseless debate over Islam. We are directed to not get Quranic knowledge partially. Rather we should concentrate on every surah and every ayah with its meaning, proper explanation and most of all, the reason for which this portion of the Quran was revealed.
When we will get clear concepts about all these things, we will be able to say that the Quran is a glorious book for guidance from Allah SWT to His creatures. May Allah guide us to His right path. May He forgive our knowingly or unknowingly sins. May He make us captivative to understand and implement the teachings of the Quran. Amen.
